One of the most frequent questions that people ask me is, “Why did you start a church?” Honestly, there is no quick way to answer that question.
Another question that people frequently ask me, “How did you start a church?” Once again, there is no quick way to answer that question.
Starting a church I would imagine is similar too starting just about anything that has not yet been materialized. You have a vision of what could be, you believe that vision is needed and somehow attainable therefore, you pursue that vision.
The quick and simple answer is that we started New Story Church because we recognized that every person’s life is telling a story. For many people there is a disconnect between the story that their life is telling and the story that they want it to tell. We believe that Jesus has a new story for your life, and it is the story that your life is designed to tell. When we step into that New Story as individuals we then come together as a group to write a New Story in our community, in our city, and beyond!
How did we start a church? This vision has become a reality through prayer, planning, and PEOPLE. If you ever choose to pursue a vision you need people. We would not be able to continue to pursue this vision if it wasn’t for Kim (my wife), Neil, Lindsay, Joy, Aaron, and our entire story team. NEVER pursue your vision alone. Pursuing a vision alone will set you up for burnout and a lack of accountability. Find the right people and move forward!
I have had a number of people tell me that they would love to be a part of New Story Church, but they can’t either due to scheduling conflicts or they live out of state. If that is you then I have two pieces of great news for you!
